The amount of pocket money you receive depends on your age if you owe any money out in fines or reparation. You can also earn extra money for going to school. Pocket money is given on a Saturday morning; don't forget you need to have done your room and possibly the games room before you get your pocket money.
Out of your pocket money £1or £2 goes towards your savings money (amount depends on your age) so that you can buy your family, friends Christmas or birthday presents.
Pocket money bonus scheme
To help you get into a routine we at Prospect House want to reward your positive behaviours, so we have set up a way for you to earn extra pocket money through the ‘Bonus Scheme'. This involves 1, getting up on time for school 8.55am (whether you are going to school or not) weekends and school holidays you get until 11.00am. 2, you also need to have a tidy room each day 3, have a shower or bath everyday 4, you need to go to bed on time according to your age.
To earn this extra money you need to get four ticks every day for seven days in a row, if you get a cross, meaning that you have not done something then you start back on day one loosing all the days you have already done.
Bonus money you could earn per seven days.
10 years £2.50
11 years £2.50
12 years £3.00
13 years £3.50
14 years £4.00
15 years & above £4.50
Remember if at any point you do not carry out all the things required then you go back to day one and start again, once you have completed seven days in a row you need to ask a staff member to request your bonus money and you will receive it on Saturday, pocket money day.
Clothing money
Each week Prospect House will save £10.00 for you towards clothing. When you have saved £40.00 or more you can ask a member of staff to request your clothing money, this comes on a Saturday with your pocket money and you will spend it over that weekend. Although you can choose the clothes that you like, we make sure you have all the basics that you may need first. Staff will hold onto your clothing money and go shopping with you. At no time will you be allowed out on your own with your clothing money, unless you are on the semi-independence programme.
Toiletries and haircut money
Toiletries, we will provide you with some basic toiletries when you first come here, then through talking with your key worker you can order money as and when it is needed to buy shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors and some deodorant. Unfortunately you need to save up yourself for the posh ones, aftershaves and perfumes.
We pay approximately £7.00 every four weeks or so for the lad's haircuts, girls are slightly different and we work this out with you and your key worker. We pay for general haircuts only, anything extra, colors, perms etc can be negotiated with your key-worker.
You need to ask your key worker to request this money for you and this also comes on a Saturday and staff will take you to spend it appropriately.
