Prospect School is situated just outside the city of Hull, at Withernwick, near Beverley, in East Yorkshire.
Prospect School was registered as an Independent Special School in 2004 and makes day provision for up to six boys and girls aged 10-16 years, most of whom reside in the adjoining Prospect House children's residential home.
Here at Prospect School we are very proud of the achievements we have made and the quality of education we provide.
Prospect School, in conjunction with Prospect House, aims to give children who have experienced difficulties in mainstream school a second chance at education.
Aims of the school
At Prospect School we aim to:
- Provide an environment in which all pupils may develop their abilities and personalities to the full
- Recognise that people have different abilities, interests and characters
- Develop lively and enquiring minds by providing a stimulating environment through a variety of structured experiences within a broad-based and balanced curriculum relevant to each pupil
- Foster within each individual a sense of self respect to enable them to take their place as a self-disciplined, confident, responsible and acceptable member of the community
- Help equip children with the skills necessary to become independent and self-sufficient members of society
- Develop within each child a positive set of attitudes, values and beliefs and to encourage an awareness and respect of the attitudes, beliefs, cultures and moral values of others
- Enable each child to fulfil their potential in all areas of the curriculum and to use the skills and knowledge acquired effectively
- Strive in this ever-changing technological society to provide children with the competence needed for employment
